Fun things to do in Mont Tremblant, QC

January 19, 2015

Looking for the alpine experience without the hefty pricetag? Mont Tremblant is a picturesque, pedestrian-only village located 90 minutes north of Montreal in the ethereal Laurentian Mountains. The location of the village means that in summer you can stop off for golf, tennis, and  zip-lining, while in Winter, you get some world-class snowshoeing, skating, snowboarding, and skiing.

This fun-filled resort also hosts a number of exciting events during the year. The championship boarder-cross races and gear demo events are a ski junkie’s paradise, and Spring Break parties let college students from Ontario, Quebec, and across the border blow off some steam. The beats, drinks, and eats are world-class, and the hills are some of the best in Canada.

Hit the Hills

If you haven’t been, you have to hit the hills of Mont Tremblant on a board or pair of skis. Need an equipment rental? There’s plenty to go around, and the 96 trails, 3 board parks, and 14 lifts will have you traveling over the entire mountain for the whole day. Unreal Cross-Country trails and ski-in/ski-out access to the village makes it easy to grab a quick bite to eat before your next ride to the summit. If you need your  board waxed, no problem! The village has a tune-up shop ready to tighten up bindings and get you ready to tackle the mountain with your gear in tip-top shape.

Take a Hike

The Summer months open up some of the ski hill’s terrain for hiking. Mont Tremblant has 11 astounding trails that vary in degree of difficulty and duration, so those looking for a quick uphill climb can be back at their car and leaving within an hour while seasoned hikers will love the two-hour hikes that traverse steep inclines, challenging terrain, and an observation tower with a 360 degree view at the summit.

Enroll in the Golf Academy

The warmer months also welcome golfers from all over the country to visit Le Diable and get pointers on their game from CPGA instructors at the golf academy. You’ll need all of the help you can get in order to tackle Golf Tremblant. While the golf academy can help golfers with its 68 driving range slots and a putting boot camp, Le Diable and Le Geant, the two professional 18-Hole courses on the edge of the village, will offer up a challenging golf game as well as scenic mountain- filled horizons. FORE!

The Caribou Cup

At Winter’s end, the Caribou Cup sees skiers and snowboarders race down the hill and see how far they can make it across the pool at the bottom. A fun event with tons of bloopers and triumphant finishes, this downhill stunt comp is a fun way to close out the ski/snowboard season.

Spring Break, Baby!

College kids from Ontario, the US, and Quebec have their Spring Break celebrations up in the village with pumping music, board park antics, tubing, and tons of other entertainment. Parties dot the whole base of the mountain, and at night, everyone gets amped up while carrying on the festivities at one of many clubs and bars. A great way to let loose after a long semester of hard work!

For the Kids

Children are also more than welcome to hit the slopes with parents, take up lessons, or celebrate Easter. The end of March lets kids under 12 take over. The Burton El Nino is a one-day event where children who have an interest in freestyle snowboarding can learn new skills, practice their technique, and compete against other kids while turning out tricks for the judges. As for Easter, Mont Tremblant hosts a huge Easter celebration for children and their families that includes an Easter egg hunt, crafts, face-painting, and other fun activities in the heart of the village.

If there was ever a mountain to visit when you’re in Quebec, make it Mont Tremblant. The log cabins make for picture perfect accommodation, and the variety of eateries,  pubs and clubs make the village glisten in the night. If you’re a Summer-lover, hold off and do a bit of golfing and light mountaineering, and stick around for some of the most beautiful sunsets you could imagine. You’ll want to come back year after year.

If the thought of mountains, forests, rivers and fresh air lifts your spirit high, then just imagine how amazing all this is cloaked in the stunning colours of fall. Panoramic Gondola Rides

Take a ride in the panoramic gondola to the top of the highest peak in the Laurentians and prepare to be blown away by the amazing views! Watch a fantastic bird show where trained raptors take flight on the summit of the Laurentians brushing right past you (ok at a safe distance) and flying right above your head! Fill your tummy at Grand Manitou’s quick service counter situated on top of Mont Tremblant – when you’re warm and full, you can stay there for hours!

How about an adventurous hike in the Laurentians via 11 trails that range from 1 km to 11 km? Don’t worry, these trails are suitable for hikers of all levels, and once at the top, you’ll be able to come back down by the panoramic gondola or walking.

If 18 holes are on your mind when visiting Mont Tremblant, Le Diable and Le Géant golf courses with their spectacular plateaus, beautiful fairways and formidable sand bunkers will give you the time and space you need to take your game to a higher level!

Mont Tremblant is home to some really challenging cross-country mountain biking trails. You can rent bikes at rental shops at the base of the mountain and the staff will be happy to give you advice on equipment and trails adapted to your level.

Got some room to maneuver on that credit card? Tremblant’s charming resort village at the base of the mountain has that cute European style and streets lined with exclusive boutiques. Shop for trendy clothes, souvenirs, accessories and winter & outdoor gear – though it’s not the cheapest spree in the world… be warned! For foodies, there are specialty food stores with everything from homemade macarons to tempting gourmet chocolate.

For all history lovers, a 60-minute cruise on the 7.5 mile-long Lake Tremblant is a treat. Aboard the “Grand Manitou” cruise boat, you will enjoy beautiful scenery while listening to stories and legends of Mont-Tremblant. The cruise offers great photo opportunities of the Tremblant resort and the mountain!

It’s 2018: Let This Year’s Top Travel Trends Inspire Your Next Trip

January 5, 2018
Travel Trends 2018

Many people include travel as part of the New Year’s resolutions. It makes sense; travel enables you to explore and discover new things. You learn about the world and, in many cases, yourself. To help inspire your travels in 2018, we have put together some of the top travel trends for the year.

These are more than simply fashionable tourist destinations. With new, economical options for travel, and some destinations that may unfortunately disappear, these travel trends just might be the final push you need to pack that suitcase!

2018 Travel Trends: Eco-Tourism

Travel Trends 2018: Eco-Tourism

Travellers are increasingly embracing the natural in our digitized world. For many travellers, the chance to unplug, and enjoy nature in all of its glory, is the perfect vacation. This is true whether it be the beauty of Arctic, the majesty of an old forrest, or a crystal-clear mountain lake. In cases like Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, nature lovers are looking to see the iconic destination in person before it succumbs to the ravages of climate change. “Last-chance tourism” is one of 2018 bigger travel trends, and it appears like it may be around for a while.

2018 Travel Trends: The Working Holiday

2018 Travel Trends: Working Holidays

A digital world is a more connected world. This is a boon for travellers who want to be able to balance work and leisure. “Bleisure,” the extension of a business trip for leisure purposes, was one of 2017’s most popular travel trends. The 2018 update flips the idea: travellers on vacation picking up their laptops. This is not a family vacation ruined by overworking parents; the working holiday means that family can travel somewhere for an extended period of time. This means that the family can enjoy the perks of a longer holiday without worrying about work commitments.

For those with flexible telecommuting options, the working holiday means that they can take longer trips with the family, and enjoy the lifestyle in another part of the world. Maybe this means renting a chalet in Canada’s Mont Tremblant, or a chic flat in London. With a home away from home, you can complete your work day, and then go right back into vacation mode.

2018 Travel Trends: Become Part of the Celebration

2018 Travel Trends: Become Part of the Celebration

Integrating into local cultures and lifestyles has been one of the more persistent travel trends of the last few years, and it is continuing into 2018. Those looking for an authentic experience in a new country are moving away from hotels, resorts, and “tourist traps” and are renting apartments, visiting farmer’s markets, and are trying to get closer to living like locals.

An excellent place to try this out in 2018 is Chile. This South American country was listed as part of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2018, for several reasons. Chile has a vast array of geographical aspects in a relatively small area. There is the desert in the North, the wild of Patagonia in the South, the Pacific Ocean to the West, and the Andes to the East. In 2018, Chileans will be celebrating 200 years of independence. Why not rent an apartment in the trendy capital of Santiago and join the party?

2018 Travel Trends: Leave Your Comfort Zone

2018 Travel Trends: Leave Your Comfort Zone

Leaving your comfort zone is one of the biggest travel trends of 2018. That sometimes mean literally travelling somewhere you may not have thought of visiting, even a few years ago. Detroit is one of those cities. This city has bounced back from its 2013 bankruptcy and has been injected with new life. It made Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel list for 2018, which describes Detroit as “caffeine-buzzed,” and “freewheeling in ideas.”

Leaving your comfort zone could also mean trying something completely new. Maybe this is the year you try a fun activity like skydiving or swimming with sharks. Perhaps you finally accept your dream job in a completely new city. Whatever your personal travel adventure is; embrace it.

If you’re looking for the best accommodations to help you plan out your 2018 travels, CorporateStays would be thrilled to help you. We have Signature Collection apartments across Canada and Panama as well as partners around the world. Our team of expert housing specialists will help you find your perfect accommodations. What are your 2018 travel plans? Let us know!

Looking for the Perfect Holiday Gift? Why You Should Choose a Vacation.

December 8, 2017
Holiday Gift

The holiday season is creeping up on us, and people around the world are looking for the perfect holiday gift. Lists are popping up across the internet on the best gifts to show off on Instagram, the trendiest gifts of 2017, and the best gifts based on horoscope sign.

This is not one of those lists. We would like to propose something different. An original gift that fits in with the spirit of the holidays. A vacation! It is a thoughtful gift that is simultaneously modern and classic and doesn’t need to break the bank.

Keep on reading to find out why a vacation is the best holiday gift you can give:

Give a Holiday Gift that Creates Memories, Not Clutter

Holiday Gift: Memories

Millenials have been at the head of a trend that prioritizes experiences over possessions. And there is a lot to say for their value. Experiences are memories that will last forever. They won’t go out of style like a fidget spinner, Beanie Baby, or Pet Rock.

If you’re looking to give a present that is more about spending time than spending money, a vacation is an excellent holiday gift. A vacation is about spending time with loved ones; it is about appreciating the simple joys in the world. It is far more in keeping with the traditional “holiday spirit” than a trendy trinket.

Furthermore, a vacation avoids one of the common pitfalls of a holiday gift: clutter. A vacation isn’t going to sit on a shelf collecting dust until it is regifted or given to charity. It won’t be yet another piece to make room for. Although, that special someone may want to make some room to share the photos from their wonderful trip.

Give a Holiday Gift that Shows You Care

Holiday Gifts: Caring

When you give someone a vacation as a present, you are showing that you put thought into their gift. It is not simply a trendy item or a novelty mug; you are giving them the gift of time. It’s time for themselves, time to relax, and time for them to explore.

We all know those people who dedicate their lives to work, to volunteering, to helping with family, but never take the time for themselves. By giving them the time for rest and relaxation, you are not only giving them a gift. You are recognizing all of their hard work. As holiday gifts come and go, a vacation is one of the easiest to truly personalize. You can send them to their favourite part of the world, or simple someone where they can enjoy one of the favourite activities.

And a vacation doesn’t just mean the typical tourist experience. By staying in a furnished apartment in a key area of the city, like those offered by Corporate Stays, you can give them the experience of living in their dream city. For example, it is a more authentic Montreal experience to wake up in a Griffintown apartment than it would be to stay in a hotel beside the airport. It’s closer to the city, and more importantly, it’s filled with the cafes and restaurants that Montrealers like.

Give a Holiday Gift that is Valuable, not Expensive

Holiday Gifts: Value

I would be willing to bet that the first objection that you had to the idea of the vacation as a holiday gift was the price. And it would be an understandable objection. But vacations don’t have to be expensive. At the end of the day, you are giving a priceless gift: the gift of time. It is something that even the richest among cannot buy.

There are many ways to trim the costs of a vacation. You just want to get away for the weekend to somewhere like Whistler or Mont Tremblant. You can also save on flight expenses by staying in a nearby city. Have someone that loves St Patrick’s Day and everything green? Don’t necessarily have the means for the flight to the Emerald Isle? Montreal and Boston have two of the best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the world, and they may be much closer.

Depending on the location and the time of year, the hospitality industry can offer some serious discounts on their wares. In some cases, you may wind up spending less money than you would have on a physical gift!

So this year, when you’re stumped on finding the perfect holiday gift, consider giving a vacation. You will be showing the person you care, you will be creating memories, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to give a valuable present.

Looking for the perfect place to set up their vacation stay? Get in touch with the housing specialists at Corporate Stays, who can help find the ideal apartment for a fantastic trip.

Insider Series: Business Travel Tips with voice actor Tiffany BENNICKE

December 22, 2016
tiffany bennicke corporatestays guest

At CorporateStays, we have lots of interesting guest staying with us from all around the world – each working in a multitude of diverse fields and industries.

The one thing they all have in common is that they’re travelling and experiencing a new city while on business!

This is why we’ve launched our new INSIDER SERIES.

Every month moving into 2017,  you can expect new video interviews that will give you business travel tips and a greater insights into what it’s like experiencing CorporateStays lifestyle.

On our very first episode, we’re joined by Tiffany Bennicke, an LA voice actress/model who’s travelling to Montreal with her husband Rune from Dreamwork.

Watch the interview for business travel tips and insights, and why they chose CorporateStays.

TB: My name is Tiffany Bennicke and I’m living here at 400 Sherbrooke West through CorporateStays. To get to know Montreal and see what’s here and experience every season. We’re going to be here for the full winter which I’ve never experience so I’m kind of excited about that.

TB: I’m here mostly because of my husband’s job. He works at Dream Works and he’s working on a film that they’re outsourcing here.

Dream Works got me a work permit as well, so I was able to get a work permit to sign with agencies here. I’m actually represented with agencies here. So I’m actually represented for voice over and modelling.

TB: I mean before I got married to my husband I travelled mostly for modelling jobs. This is the first time we’re out of the country, using different currency. We’re enjoying it, it’s nice to live outside of — to try something new.

TB: Definitely the festivals! When we were coming here for summer everyone told us you have to see the festivals! And when [they] said festivals I thought it was going to be like three or five festivals. But there’s festivals every single day! You guys have so much to do, and they’re so interactive, and you can actually go in things, and do things, and there’s games!

Definitely see Parc Mont-Royal, or “Mount Royal”. The hike is a workout but the view is incredible. So many good restaurants here, definitely try poutine.

TB: I’m a voice actor, I always bring my laptop for my editing programs and my microphone.

TB: Nature. I mean we’re in the middle of a city, just going into the park is the best thing ever. Or just rent a car and go out of town. The best thing about Montreal is that you’re a city and you’re very concentrated, there’s so much to do here. But there’s also so much to do outside of it. Apple picking, there’s so many farms just around outside of the city. We went to Mont-Tremblant!

TB: What makes me feel like I’m home when I’m away on business… you know what makes me feel like I’m home actually? That is a little someone, that little creature over there, Gucci my dog. That’s what makes me feel like I’m at home when I’m away on business.

TB: The most helpful one or travelling has been my OANDA Currency Exchange app. I use that almost every single day. I walk around, I buy something here in Canada – I’m like how much money did I really spend?

TB: One way to go faster at check-ins, and I’m kind of a nerd for doing this. I always remember my reference number before I go in (to the airport). So when I go to check-in with a screen or a person, they pull it up immediately. So that makes it a little bit quicker.

TB: So I did some research for apartments in Montreal, extended stays, things like that. And I saw, I think there were top 3 websites. But I really liked the quality and the caliber and the quality I found corporatestays the best. Now they had maybe 4 different ones I was interested in. I contacted a representative who I had been working with, and he’s been great. His name is Stephane, he helped us get into this penthouse, which was actually one of my first choices. It was my top choice!

Plan A Romantic Escape For Valentine’s Day (On Any Budget)

February 1, 2016

Chocolates? Boring. Jewelry? Tricky. Underwear? Don’t even try… If you’re having trouble thinking beyond flowers and a meal out, we’re here to help. An unexpected trip away is the one valentines gift that will score you massive points with your significant other and, with you along for the ride, it’s a win-win for everyone. Here are some things you’ll have to consider:

Budget: First – you’ll need to figure out how much cash you can spend on this romantic gesture. If you’re in the ‘baller’ category, go ahead and reserve those tickets to Paris. You’ll want to check out our apartments there – incredibly chic and just minutes from the beautiful river Seine. If you want to get away but are a little strapped, you can always grab a cheap flight to Florida and check into our awesome studios in South Beach – she’ll love the luxury, but you’ll love the price tag even more. Then again, not everyone has the ability to get away for a few days during the Valentine’s day weekend. In this case, get away from the monotony of your own home and treat your significant other to an overnight stay in one of our luxury apartments in your city!

Location: February in the northern hemisphere is cold, so you’ve got to either reject it or embrace it. If your lover is more of a sun and sand kind of girl, then you should consider Costa Rica, Panama, or Miami. But if you guys are into snowboarding and getting hot by a rustic, roaring fireplace, then head up north to a cabin in the mountains and Mont Tremblant.

Timing: To really get this gift right, you’ve got to think about timing. Book a getaway at the same time as her friend’s baby shower or when she can’t get time off work and you’re screwed. If possible, check her calendars or call a colleague to help you clear her schedule or request secret time off. You can do some subtle in-person investigation by saying stuff like “I was gonna go see my parents/do a detox/babysit cousins  that weekend – do we have anything going on then?”

Packing: If you’re determined to keep the surprise right up to the airport then you’ll need to pack a bag for her. Even for an overnight stay in your current city means you’ll have to have something ready for them in the morning to change into. Most important – do not forget cosmetics and toiletries. Aside from clothes and shoes, she’ll need her deodorant, toothbrush, cleanser and moisturizer, as well as some make-up. Pay attention to what she uses in the morning and pack that!

February 13, 2015

Well, we’ve got some pretty great recommendations for kids old and young, families big and small. We know that lying on a beach will never cut the mustard when little ones are along for the ride, so we’ve chosen places that are full of action and adventure – and just so happen to pack a heck of a lot more culture than Disney World. You’re welcome!

Costa Rica

If you’re living in North America and are looking for adventure close to home, Costa Rica is a fantastic choice. Think nighttime rainforest tours, surfing, ziplining, and racing along on quad bikes, before soaking in warm volcanic pools. Costa Rica is perfect for older kids and teens who love outdoor activities. You can travel easily around the country and see a few different spots in just a week, or set up base camp by the beach in beautiful Montezuma, or near the sloths under the shadow of a volcano in Arenale National Park. There’s a lot more to do in Costa Rica, take a look at these good places to eat and cool activities to do.

New York City

This one needs no introduction but let us at least list some of our favourite kid-friendly sights: For animal-lovers, the Natural History Museum is a full-day of fascination, while the New York Zoo is perfect when the weather’s warm. If you’re willing to splash out on new toys (or you can ignore the begging) then the famous FAO Schwarz toystore is a wonderland. For a close-up view of the world’s best-known landmark, take a ride on the Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty or for a panoramic view of the city, take the elevator to the top of the Rockefeller Centre, where you can challenge the kids to point out the Empire State Building. And if you feel like a dip in the sea and some old-fashioned carnival rides, Coney Island is a must-visit. For more information, take a look at our handy family guide to NewYork!

Rome, Italy

While you may not want to take toddlers around Rome (especially in the heat of summer) Rome is perfect for tweens and teens,  with sights guaranteed to impress – from the ghoulish bone-decorated Santa Maria della Concezione to the hulking Colosseum and the Pantheon. And when they’ve had enough of ancient history and show signs of getting restless, appease young ones at one of the incomparable gelato stops around the city, then toss a coin to make a wish at the Trevi Fountain.

The Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

There are so many great spots for families in this part of Mexico, but we particularly recommend Playa del Carmen – home to sandy beaches, Mayan archaeological sites and some really fun theme parks. For example, Discovery Jungle Park is as far from Disney World as you can get – Think rough-and ready rope bridges, fast-paced ATV rides down jungle paths and swimming in underground caves.

Mont-Tremblant, Quebec

If you’re considering a winter getaway, then you can’t go wrong with a cozy log cabin in Mont Tremblant, about an hour and a half north of Montreal in the Laurentian Mountains. You’ll have skiing and snowboarding on your doorstep, as well as trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. You can also get the whole family out for snowmobiling, dog sledding, and tubing, then hit the quaint village for a tasty dinner before curling up at home by the fire. Take a look at these other fun things to do in Mont-Tremblant!

Tremblant City and Lake

Family vacations can be a regrettable nightmare or the trip of a lifetime, it’s all about knowing your family and picking the right spot. Think about whether you want sights or activities, cool or warm temperatures, and beaches or mountains and you’re starting down the right track – good luck!

Decorating Tips from Justine

February 11, 2015

Looking to personalize your home? Want to maximize your living space? Searching for that creative edge?’s personal interior designer, Justine Germain has been asked to provide you with some simple yet effective tips on how to make your apartment or home stand out from the crowd:

Always be sure to select articles that you haven’t seen before. The worst thing that can happen is someone saying “Hey, I recognize that piece. I have the same one at home….so does my uncle, my sister, my cousin twice-removed, her optometrist….” get the point?

“I’m not saying you can’t shop at mainstream furniture stores,” says Justine, “Just try to buy the more unique items there. Don’t go for the cheapest or the most common.”

Add Color

Whether it’s vibrant colour accents or painting an entire wall, adding colour can really change the personality of a room. “Painting a wall with just the right colour can completely change the whole feeling of a room”, notes Justine, “but be sure to pick colours you won’t get tired of, take your time and think it through.” Justine strongly recommends taking home paint samples to try on your walls. “Colours may appear beautiful in the store but the layout and lighting of your home is going to be completely different meaning the colours might look nothing like that on your wall.” Paint samples usually run around $4 and are well worth the price before buying a full-sized can.

Use Mirrors

Mirrors are a great way to create the illusion of a larger space. “The larger the mirror, the larger your space will appear,” says Justine, “and you don’t always have to use traditional mirrors.” Justine also recommends using mirrors that you can’t necessarily see your reflection in, “Different shapes creates a unique personality and even though you can’t see yourself in it, it still reflects light.”

Play with Light

Lighting can make all the difference with a room. Not only the amount of lighting but the placement of it can make or break an ambiance. Even a simple dimmer switch can help you vary the mood. “Don’t be afraid to play with light,” says Justine, “Try different lights, intensities and positions, all these things can make a huge difference.

Glass Furniture

Try using glass furniture for certain pieces, especially for a smaller apartment. “Glass furniture has a much less dominant presence in a smaller space, giving it a more open, breathable feel,” notes Justine, “plus, it’s a great alternative to traditional wooden furniture.”

Don’t Forget Your Walls

Walls are a great way to save space and add a personality to your room. “Shelving, wall decorations, paintings, get creative”, notes Justine, “people tend to not think about walls when they’re decorating a space but it’s a key element.
